Meet Martin

Martin Moore is an attorney, mediator, and Buncombe County Commissioner running for District Attorney. A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC School of Law, Martin began his career as a public defender in Asheville and has over a decade of experience in civil, criminal, and appellate courts, including working on cases before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

As a County Commissioner, he has championed early childhood education, affordable housing, and racial justice initiatives—including Buncombe’s historic reparations effort.

Martin also serves as Chair of OpenDoors of Asheville, co-chair of the Campaign for Southern Equality, and serves as a board member at Pisgah Legal and ArtsAVL. He believes that his lifelong commitment to public service, fairness, and equal justice has prepared him to step into the role of Buncombe County District Attorney in 2026.
